We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Faith in Place, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in establishing the Stone Temple Green Team. Faith in Place, a leader in empowering communities of diverse faiths and spiritualities, shares our commitment to advancing environmental and racial justice. Through their coaching and resources, we’ve been able to form a dynamic team dedicated to transforming North Lawndale into a healthier, greener community. Together, we are building a sustainable future, grounded in the principles of justice and environmental stewardship.
We are proud to announce our partnership with the Chicago Sukkah Design Festival in the establishment of the Stone Temple Green Team. The Festival, known for its innovative approach to blending cultural heritage with community-driven design, has been instrumental in bringing our vision to life. Through this collaboration, we’ve worked with talented architectural designers to create a vibrant sukkah structure that not only honors the rich history of North Lawndale but also serves as a communal space for gathering, learning, and growing together. The Chicago Sukkah Design Festival’s commitment to social justice, design literacy, and neighborhood transformation aligns perfectly with our mission to cultivate a greener, healthier community. We are grateful for their support and excited to see our sukkah become a lasting symbol of unity and environmental stewardship in North Lawndale.
We are proud to acknowledge the vital partnership between Chicago Sinai Congregation and the Stone Temple Green Team, which has played a significant role in the establishment of our community garden and educational center in North Lawndale. Since February 2019, Sinai has collaborated with Stone Temple Baptist Church, Associate Pastor Reshorna Fitzpatrick, Church Elders, and local neighbors to transform a neglected city lot into a thriving space for organic vegetables, flowers, and community gatherings.
This partnership has been a source of joy and growth for all involved, as we’ve worked together to build raised garden beds, plant seeds, and create a beautiful, peaceful environment where residents can connect, learn, and share in the bounty of the garden. All produce grown is offered at no cost to North Lawndale residents, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.
The Stone Temple Church, with its rich history as a former synagogue for Romanian Jews, now serves as a symbol of cultural heritage and unity. We are honored to share our histories and work together to cultivate a greener, healthier North Lawndale
